Hi Friends,
It’s Thanksgiving week and I want you to know that I am truly grateful for you, Whether you subscribe or stop by, thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I am grateful that I have this opportunity to share with you each week.
Now let’s talk some more about vision.
The word “anticipate” is in the top 1% most looked up words according to Merriam Webster website.
Anticipate means to act before something happens. To move first- before you get it, see it physically, have it, possess it, or own it.
Action is inherent in anticipation. Anticipation is not merely waiting. Anticipation is not passive, it is active.
So what are you anticipating? I would say that it’s not just the thing you are waiting on, but it is the vision you are working towards. It’s the thing that you are making moves towards, and taking steps towards.
Before Jesus began His public ministry, everyone was waiting on the Messiah. But John the Baptist anticipated Jesus. He did not just wait on Jesus. He did not just foresee Jesus’ ministry. No, he took action and prepared the way for it. He began boldly calling people to repentance. He spent his days baptizing those who received his message. He proclaimed that the Savior was indeed coming. This is what anticipation looks like.
Habakkuk 2:2 says, And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.”
This verse shows us that vision inspires action and motion. Those who read it are compelled to run in the direction of the vision.
The next verse says, “For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.
This verse tells us that the vision is also in motion. It is hastening (running, racing, hurrying) to the end.
Notice that the vision is not moving towards you or me. It’s not hurrying to meet us. It is moving towards the end, so let’s meet it at the finish line. That’s the only way to attain it.
We don’t always know what the course looks like when we set out. We can’t be certain if the path will be mostly smooth or mostly rocky. We don’t know if this race will be a sprint, marathon or a relay.
But Paul gives us this advice in Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV: And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
If you are anticipating the vision God has given you, get busy moving towards it.
Active anticipation requires your participation. I encourage you to take a step towards it before you see it and to start preparing for it before you have it.
